Biographies
Born 1813 Croydon, Surry, England.
At age 22 on the 6th August 1835 George was tried at Surry Assizes, Offence: Larceny from the person and felony. Sentence: 14 years. No former convictions.
30 October 1835: Departed England for Australia on board the Recovery (3)
25 Feb 1836: Arrival New South Wales, Australia
Description: Complexion: Dark & Ruddy. Hair: Black. Eyes: Dark Hazel. Marks and Scars: Nose inclining to right side, wart back of right thumb and scar on middle finger. Eight warts back of left hand, scar on right shin. Height 5 Foot 5 1/2 Inches.
13 Jan 1844 Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia: Ticket of exemption/leave. Allowed to remain in the Bathurst area. Master: Johnson

George was a stockman and made his way from Bathurst out to the Coonamble area were he took up a selection of land 640 acres.
George died at Coonamble 25 Sep 1890 aged 78. Cause: Effusion of blood on the brain.
George signed his name with the spelling George Gardner on his last will and testament. He has a sand stone headstone at the Coonamble cemetery which was relocated from the old cemetery which has now become a park. The remarks state son of James and Ann native of England. The spelling of his name on the headstone is 'Gardner'
