Biographies

John Thraves, Prior to being a Convict deportee was a farm labourer (ploughman ) living close to Nottingham UK. Son of Richard Thraves 1770-1843 & Elizabeth Barlow 1798-1851 was convicted of House breaking In Nottingham on 12 March 1831 at 20 Yrs old. Transported to Tasmania in 1832 for life on board the Ship Lord Lyndoch. He was described as Brown Haired, Blue eyes, long chin and long arms. John appears to have been pardoned 12 Jan 1843. In 1848 He obtained permission to Mary Jane Wilson who arrived on the vessel Sea Queen. I am unaware of any events relating to John after this period apart from the fact he seems to have died in 1865.

John had 6 siblings 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Mary, Elizabeth, Elanor, Helen, Thomas and Richard.

John's Sister Elizabeth Thraves 1805-1861 ( Married John Count 1829) Also died in Australia, the reasons for her presence in Australia is unclear.

If any body is interested I have UK family information relating to John Thraves dating back to the mid 1300's as well as his remaining family in the UK, who still live very close to John's original homestead just outside Nottingham.

I now reside in Australia and John is my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfathers Brother.
