Denis Shea was born in 1797 in Glenbeigh, Kerry, to Honora Barrett, age 22, and Daniel Shea, age 25.

Denis Shea married Mary Hagan in Glenbeigh, Kerry, in 1818 when he was 21 years old.

Denis Shea arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia 14 Nov 1834 on the ship Blenheim, transported for life for sheep stealing.

Denis Shea was granted a Ticket of Leave on 12 Dec 1843 and was allowed to remain in the Bathurst area. He was pardoned in 1846.

Denis Shea died on 23 March 1858 in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia when he was 61 years old as a result of an accident with his horse and dray while returning home after selling some potatoes.
