Meeting held 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10am in the Tebbutt Room, Windsor Library INFORMATIONDEATH OF NICK VINE HALLNick Vine Hall passed away on 31 October 2006 aged 62 years following a battle with cancer. Nick was the Director of the Society of Australian Genealogists in the late 1970s & early 1980s and then moved to Melbourne where he continued as professional genealogist. He had a regular family history program on ABC radio and was the author of several books. He was a regular speaker at various genealogical conferences and passionate about family history. More recently he campaigned for retention of the Australian census as Chairman of the AFFHO Census Working Party, His death is a great loss to the genealogical community. ** Nick's funeral will take place at St. Thomas Anglican Church in North Sydney at 2pm on Thursday 9th November. NEXT MEETING - 13TH DECEMBERThe next meeting is on Wednesday 13 December and is the final meeting for 2006. It is our regular "Show & Tell" meeting and for those who have not attended before, members bring along an iotem of interest relating to their family history. It can be a photograph, a piece of jewellery, a book, ornament and you can show the item and then provide a few minutes talk about it. Over the years we havd some wonderful items, some interesting theings as well as the bizarre. Following the meeting will be our Christmas get together, so everyone please bring along a small plate and join in the festivities. There will be no meeting in January and the next meeting will be taking place on the 14 February 2007. ST. MATTHEW'S PARISH REGISTERS 1901 - 1950 NOW FOR SALEThe Lake Macquarie Family History Group have published Vol. 3 of the St. Matthew's Parish registers 1901 - 1950, transcription of church registers. The volume has 5,105 entries comprising 2,726 baptisms, 818 marriages and 1,561 burial entries. The index has 16,782 entries. The price remains at $$30 each + $10 P&H. and is fully indexed. Phone 02 9636-1905 or email wmcguirk@tpg.com.au BRITISH PHONE BOOKS 1880-1984 RELEASE 1Ancestry has released British phone books published between 1880, the year after the public telephone service was introduced to the UK, and 1984, from the historic phone book collection held by BT Archives. Currently the database contains 430 phone books covering London and large parts of Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Middlesex & Surrey. Ancestry is available to view free to Hawkesbury City Council Library members.
