Meeting held 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10am in the Tebbutt Room, Windsor Library FOR YOUR INFORMATIONSHOWCASE 2005The Society of Australian Genealogists will be holding its 10th annual Showcase on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May 2005 from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm in Kent Street, Sydney. The focus is on encouraging those just starting their family history, as well as helping the more seasoned researcher who needs some new ideas & inspiration. During Showcase you can browse stalls with books, software & CDs to buy, & get research advice from govt departments & transcription agents. SAG’s own volunteers & Interest Groups will be able to help with Australian & overseas research enquiries. Bargains available at SAG bookshop & 2nd-hand book stall & sausage sizzle & refreshment stall. Tickets go on sale on 1 April & remain at $10 for one day or $15 for both days if purchased before 25 May, or $15 on either day if purchased at the door. Entrance to all lectures this year will be by gold coin admission (payable on the day ) with monies raised going towards the SAG Building Fund. A great lecture programme will run over both days. Contact Jan Mathieson for more information on jlm8@bigpond.com.au "CONSTITUTION" 1855 REUNIONA reunion of the immigrants who arrived on the "Constitution" in Sydney in 1855 will take place on the 17th July 2005, from 10.30am - 4pm. This includes descendants of Thomas Saunders died 1905 aged 87 & his wife Mary Annie nee Brown who died 1893 & lived at Tennyson (Sallys Bottoms) for many years and are buried at North Richmond. The reunion will be at North Head Quarantine Station, & the Governor of NSW will officially launch the event. Since then further books are nearing completion, with more detail, stories and photos. The first, “Cross Country – The Douglass Direction”, the descent of Charles & Rose’s second child, Mary Ann, who married William Douglass, will be ready at the next Reunion. All books & cd’s must be prepaid before the closing date of 4th April 2005. Due to the size it will be printed in two volumes – each volume is indexed.
