Inspection of Restored St. Matthew's Stables - 2 May 2004

Interested viewers may inspect the newly restored building. Members of the task force will be on hand to answer questions. Excellent booklet available giving details of work carried out. 10am to 4pm. Donation welcome.

What is heritage & its significance in the Hawkesbury - 29 April 2004

The Library will be presenting a talk by Donald Ellsmore the Council's Heritage Advisor. Donald will be discussing the theme of this year's festival, foundations of tomorrow : in the year of the built environment. He will discuss what heritage is, and its significance in the Hawkesbury district. There will also be information available on the types of materials that can be used in researching heritage properties. The talk will take place on Thursday 29th April at 2pm-3.30pm in the Tebbutt Room of Windsor Central Library Dight Street. There is no charge and afternoon tea will be supplied. Bookings essential, contact 4560-4460. There will also be a display of historic photographs in the library during Heritage Festival.

Old School Days Bus Tour - 2 May 2004

A bus tour of a variety of heritage buildings within the Hawkesbury which have been used - and some are still in use - for education purposes. Additional details available upon request. Bus departs from Council, 366 George St, Windsor. Free Ring for times Bookings essential 02 4560 4574.

Pitt Town Yesterday & Tomorrow - 2 May 2004

The National Trust (Hawkesbury Branch) have organised a heritage tour of Pitt Town. This is a drive-yourself" tour, although if you need a lift, mention at the time of booking. Meet at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor 9.30 for 10am. Prof. Ian Jack will be conducting the tour & Carol Edds will be providing feedback on the effects of proposed development. Lunch can be purchased at the "Bird in Hand" historic Inn or BYO picnic. Afternoon tea provided at the Old Mess Hall. Cost $25 & payment to be made by the 28 April 2004. Historic Walk through Richmond - 24 April 2004

Hawkesbury Historical Society will lead a walk through Historic Richmond showing early farms, St Peters Church & cemetery, visit "Clear Oaks" exterior c. 1810, & ground floor of 'Eulabah' c. 1881 & afternoon tea (your expense) at the Snooty Fox, early town house. Meet at Francis St entrance, Coles car park at 1.30pm $10 or $15 family. Wear comfy walking shoes. Bookings essential 02 4577 2310.

Descendants of James Melville & Mary (nee Gavin) arrived "Mandarin" 1838 from Ireland, are invited to meet on Sunday 2nd May 2004, 12noon at McQuade Park, Moses Street side, opposite St. Matthew's, Windsor.

CATTAI NATIONAL PARK - ARNDELL HOMESTEAD + BUSHDANCE

NSW National Parks & Wildlife Srevice & volunteers invite you to attend high tea at the historic Arndell homestead, Cattai National Park, off Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai on Saturday 1st May 12noon-4pm. Cost $7 adults & $4 children/concession. Also on Saturday 29th May 2004 there will be Bush Dance & Campfire at Cattai NP 6pm-10pm. $17 adu;ts, $7 child or $45 family. Friends of Hawkesbury Library have organised a Bus Trip to Mt Annan Botanical Gardens & Campbelltown Art Gallery on Tuesday 27th April 2004, 9am - 4pm. CROSSING THE BARRIERS - CONFERENCE

The 2004 Annual State Conference of the NSW & ACT Association of Family History Societies Inc will be hosted by the Blue Mountains Family History Society. TOURS OF ROOKWOOD CEMETERY

Rookwood Cemetery is the largest cemetery in the Southern Hemisphere (238 hectares) and the Friends of Rookwood (a voluntary group) have commenced their 2004 programme of themed tours. Tours take place on the first Sunday of the month, March to November, (morning 10am-12.30pm) & (afternoon 1.30pm-4pm) $12 morning or afternoon tour, $20 full day.
