Biographies

Born in Harting, Sussex, England in 1799 to William and Mary Shier. George had a wife and three sons. At the age of 36, he was convicted for stealing 12 shillings worth of potatoes and as he had a previous conviction he was sentenced to 14 years transportation. In 1837 he arrived in NSW aboard the ship, Mangles.
