Biographies

Born in 1810 in Bodiam, Sussex. Worked as a house servant and, in 1835, sentenced to 14 years transportation for housebreaking and stealing clothing. Contracted scurvy on the voyage out to Van Dieman's Land on the Arab II, for which she was treated on board. She worked in the Cascades Female Factory and her sentence was lengthened in Launceston, Tasmania, by one year for stealing baby linen. Married a widower, Edward Russell, and died in 1891.
