There are many versions of George's name; Margerrison, Margeson, Margesson, identified in research with his birth name identified as "Jerrison" and the later widely adopted Margieson currently.

George was born about 1815 & christened. 2 July 1815 at St Mary & All Saints Church Chesterfield the sixth of six children of William Jerrison (Gerrison) & Elizabeth Glossop.

George was tried on 5 Apr 1831 in Derby Quarter Sessions for housebreaking convicted & sentenced to 14 years transportation.

George arrived Sydney aboard Isabella on 15 Mar 1832 ,with his Indent showing him as a "slater" with previous imprisonment of two months.

Upon George's Indent there is reference to an elder brother "Charles Jerrison " ( Charles had been convicted and transported to Tasmania aboard Woodford in 1828).

George was granted a Ticket of Leave 44/3024 on 28 Dec 1844 however there were many brushes with authority & Stone Quarry Bench Books 1829 to 1874 reveal some of which are attached his TOL.

George married Isabella Wheeler nee Kitchen on 18 Nov 1849 in Molong NSW. Isabella was the widow of Henry Wheeler (Waterloo 1829) & had arrived in colony on 14 Jul 1840 aboard Bounty Ship "Formosa"

By 1959 George had moved to Dubbo where he operated a General Store in Macquarie Street, this business failed with George being investigated for bankruptcy. He absconded leaving all behind .

George left his family behind and made his way back to England where he identified aged 46 living with his brother Glossop in Eckington Derbyshire on the 1861 English Census

George's final fate is unknown at this time however his wife Isabella continued to raise their children in NSW and died 13 April 1880 in Dubbo and is buried C of E Cemetery Dubbo NSW
