Biographies
Paul Lutherborrow is my 4th great grandfather.
Paul was born in 1774 and baptised on 16 November, 1774 at Hull, Leeds, Yorkshire, England, His parents were William and Betty Lutherborrow nee Wardell, they had at least two other children: Mary Ann (1776-1867) and Robert (1778-1778)
Paul was convicted of Grand Larceny (forging) at the York Assizes on 9th July, 1797 and sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia. it is thought that Paul had lived on a prison hulk (perhaps the Lion and Hospital Hulk) for the 16 months between sentencing and departing England. He travelled to Port Jackson on the "Barwell" departing Portsmouth on 8th November, 1797 arriving on 18th May, 1798.
His partner (presume she was Ann Jackson) gave birth to a daughter in 1806, another daughter in 1807 and a son in 1808.
Paul was given his Ticket of Leave on 21st July 1810 at Nepean, NSW.
Paul married Ann Jackson, also a convict, on 13th August, 1810 at St. Matthews in Windsor. They went on to have four other children. Their last son and second last child, Paul Lutherborrow, is my 3rd great grandfather.
In 1812 Paul was granted a Colonial Conditional Pardon. In 1814 Paul and his family were living in Windsor NSW. By the Muster of 17 August 1819 they were residing at Prospect, NSW. In 1826 and 1827 the family's residence was Field of Mars.
