Biographies

William together with George Harrington (Glatton 1803) & Samuel Humes (Hercules 1802) & Charles Hill (settler) & John Place ( Glatton 1893) & Philip Cunningham (Anne 1801) & John Neill (Atlas 1802) were considered the leaders of the Castle Hill Rebellion of March 1804 in which more than 200 convicts and others rebelled against Colonial Authority of the time. In response Governor King imposed Martial Law on 5 March 1804 revoked 12 March 1804. Source; Sydney Gazette NSW Advertiser 11 March 1804 page 1 & 2.

William was convicted by Court Martial for his part in rebellion and sentenced to death, he was hanged and Gibbeted on 9 March 1804 at Castle Hill NSW
