Biographies

Samuel together with Charles Hill (settler) & John Place (Glatton 1803) & Philip Cunningham (Anne 1801) & John Neill (Atlas 1802) & John Brennan (Rolla 1803) & Timothy Hogan (Rolla 1803) & William Johnson (Rolla 1803) were considered the leaders of the Castle Holl Rebellion in which over 200 convicts and others rebelled against Colonial Authority of the day. In response Governor King imposed Martial Law on 5 March 1804 revoked 12 March 1804. Source; Sydney gazette NSW Advertiser 11 March 1804 page 1 & 2.
