Biographies

Thomas Oakley
Thomas was born on 12th October 1797. Son to James Oakley (1772-1813) & Sarah White (1771-1831). There were 11 children: James Harry (1796-1879), Thomas (1797-1881), Frances (1799), William (1801-1826), Henry (1803-1806), Elizabeth (1805), Richard (1806-1900), Robert (1808-1849), Joseph Orland (1810-1895), George (1812-1891) and Samuel Joseph (1818-1896).
Thomas married Sophia Edwards on 19th December 1827.
Thomas was tried and convicted, transported aboard the ship ‘Asia’ to New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia, for 7 years.
Thomas died on 29th June 1881 in New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia.
