Biographies

William Smith was convicted in London 14 January 1818. His sentence was 14 years. He was a watch spring maker. He was 26 years old (b.1792), dark and sallow, with black hair and dark eyes.

We know that by 1831 William Smith had a ticket of leave. Elizabeth Richie, who came free to Australia in 1824 aboard the Henry, married William Smith in 1831. They had to apply to marry because he was still a ticket of leave man.
