Thomas was convicted at Gloucester Quarter Sessions on 16 October 1821 and sentenced to 7 years transportation, he arrived Tasmania aboard Prince of Orange on 23 July 1822

Thomas was convicted 27 August 1825 at Hobart of murder (stabbing) Constable Craggs and sentenced to death.
