Dean was born 1817 Dublin Ireland and convicted at Dublin in 1835 of "forged draft" and sentenced to life transportation

Dean arrived Sydney aged 18 aboard Lady MacNaghten on 26 October 1835 with his Indent showing trade "solicitors clerk".

Dean was murdered by Robert Hudson (John 1837) by use of an axe and died15 September 1841 at General Hospital Sydney.
