Biographies

William Tomlinson was tried and found guilty of passing forged currency; almost at the same time his brother James was tried as a burglar and a 'Luddite'; James was publicly hung outside Derby Gaol on 10 April 1812. William would have known his brother's fate, as he was incarcerated in the same prison.
