Emanuel was born 16 Apr 1811 and christened 5 May 1811 at Stafford upon Trent Staffordshire ( recorded as Immanuel), son of John & Esther who had married same place on 4 Mar 1798.

There are variations to family name throughout records “DAVIES/DAVIS” There were at least nine other siblings ; Clara, Lydia, Thomas, Samuel, John, William, Daniel, Ann & Esther

Emanuel was convicted of “Shoplifting Steal Book”and sentenced to seven years transportation: he arrived NSW aboard Eliza111 on 18 Nov 1828 with his Indent indicating occupation “colliers boy”

Emmanuel married Mary Ann Campbell (a Scottish Immigrant) on 29 Mar 1841 at Brisbane Waters NSW:

There were six children of their marriage; John 1841/1910, Catherine 184$/1928, Emanuel 1845/1915, Thomas 1847/1888, James 1849/1924 & Hugh 1851/1853 (died as infant)

Emanuel eventually moved his family to the North Coast of NSW where he was working as a timber cutter

Emanuel died of “Burst Blood Vessel in Lung” on 31 Dec 1855 and is now buried in the Ballina Pioneer Cemetery (Headstone remains), Death Notice : Empire Syd 24 Jan 1856 p4

Emanuels widow Mary survived some years where family had established itself near Grafton, she died there on 18 June 1879. Death Notice Mary Clarence Richmond Examiner 21 June 1879 p2
