Biographies

William James Barber was on the convict ship Prince of Orange and arrived in Port Jackson on Monday 12 February 1821 from England. He had been employed as a ploughman and was convicted of stealing some corn.
In 1828 after serving his time and as a free man William settled in the Monaro district and met Mary Ann Britten
Mary Ann was the daughter of William Britten, an ex-soldier, a private in the 102 Battalion NSW Corps who arrived in 1791 aboard the ship "Active".

In 1832 the Marriage of William James and Mary Ann at Campbelltown, V18321098 16 1832, NSW
William and Mary had 6 children. They lived at Bungonia in NSW between 1832 and 1850
William died in 1850 in a tree felling accident.
