Thomas was born Bristol and convicted Sussex Quarter Sessions on 13 July 1826 and sentenced to 7 years transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard Marquis Hastings 31 July 1827.

Thomas & Thomas Matthews were convicted 16 April 1829 Sydney of murder a fellow convict Connolly at Moreton Bay Qld and sentenced to death.
