Joseph was convicted at Bucks Assizes on 29 July 1829 and sentenced to life transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard Adrian on 20 October 1830.

Joseph was convicted on 9 March 1836 of murder Edward Brown on 9 November 1835 at Ginulo Creek and sentenced to death.
