William and twelve others participated in mutiny rebellion on Norfolk Island in January 1834; Henry Knowles (America 1829), Robert Ryan ( Manilus 1828), Joseph Snell (Recovery 1819), William McCulloch (Dunvegan Castle 1830), Walter Burke (Planter 1832), Patrick Glinny (Prince Regent 1824), Michael Anderson (Bussorah Merchant 1828), James Bell (Marquis Huntley 1830), John Butler ( John 1829), Robert Douglas (Martha 1818) , Henry Drummond (Ocean 1823) & Thomas Freshwater (Manilus 1827).

William was born Worcester and was convicted at Worcester Quarter Sessions on 9 July 1827 and entrenched to 7 years transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard Royal Admiral on 8 November 1830

William and twelve others were convicted at Court Martial on 18 July 1834 and sentenced to death

William together with Anderson, Freshwater, Knowles, Ryan & McCulloch were hanged on 23 September 1834 at Norfolk Island ( the other seven being hanged the day previous)
