Robert and twelve others participated in murine rebellion on Norfolk Island in January 1834; Henry Drummond (Ocean 1823), Thomas Freshwater (Manilus 1827), William Groves (Royal Admiral 1830), Henry Knowles (America 1829), Robert Ryan (Manilus 1828), Joseph Snell (Recovery 1819), William McCulloch (Dunvegan Castleb1830),Walter Burkeb(Planter 1832), Patrick Glinny (Prince Regent 1824), Michael Anderson (Bussorah Merchant 1828), James Bell( Marquis Huntley 1830) & John Butler (John 1829).

Robert was born 1795 Antrim County Ireland and was convicted at Antrim in 1817 and sentenced to 7 years transportation, he arrived Sydney aged 23 aboard Martha on 24 December 1818

Robert together with Burke, Glinny, Bell, Butler, Drummond & Snell were hanged on 22 September 1834 at Norfolk Island (the othe six were hanged the next day)
