Biographies
Joseph Pereira was indicted for stealing on 2nd December, 1825, 6 shovels - value 17 shillings.
Joseph was held at Newgate prison from 2nd December, 1825, until 4th October, 1826, before being transported.
He had been married to Rosa for 10 months, his daughter Esther was 1 month old when her father was sentenced.

The "Albion" left Plymouth, England for New South Wales.
Worked around the district until 1833 working for himself. On 19th April 1833, Joseph received his Certificate of Freedom - a full pardon.
Joseph de Isaac Pereira, was born in 1806 in London, son of Isaac de Joseph Pereira and Ester Saqui, both born in Portugal.
He married in 1825 Rosa Naphtali Madak and had a daughter Esther.
Transported October 1826.
Married Sophia Hughes daughter of Jacob (John) Hughes and Maria Elizabeth Henry. Maria Elizabeth Henry's parents were William Henry and Jane Carr (both convicts)
He had 6 children and died in 1847, drowned at The Old Balmain Whard, New South Wales.
