John was born about 1814 Wexford Ireland and was convicted in 1833 at Kilkenny Ireland and sentenced to life transportation.

John arrived Sydney aged 20 aboard Parmelia on 2 March 1834 with his Indent showing alias " Cary Willis" and trade farm servant. Name John Carey Willis is evidenced later records.
