James was born about 1797 Limerick Ireland and was convicted at Limerick in 1819 and sentenced to 7 years transportation, he arrived Sydney aged 23. Aboard Hadlow on 5 August 1820

James, Nicholas Cooke & James Clanchy were all convicted in December 1820 of house robbery James Seville at Parramatta and sentenced to death.
