James was born about 1790 Limerick Ireland and was convicted at Limerick in 1819 and sentenced to 7 years transportation

James arrived Sydney aged about 30 aboard Hadlow on 5 August 1820 with his Indent showing alias "Clancy".

James, Nicholas Cooke & James Wall were all convicted in December 1820 of house robbery James Seville at Parramatta and sentenced to death.
