Nicholas was born about 1790 Limerick Ireland and was convicted at Limerick in 1819 and sentenced to life transportation.

Nicholas arrived Sydney aged 30 aboard Hadlow on 5 August 1820 with his Indent showing alias "Cook".

Nicholas, James Clanchy & James Wall were all convicted in December 1820 of house robbery James Seville at Parramatta and all sentenced to death.
