Biographies

Patrick Conlon alias Conway was arrested in Longford for horse stealing and sentenced to life in NSW. He sailed from Cork, Ireland and arrived in 1832. Patrick could read and write so was soon put to work assisting the poluce magistrate, eventually being appointed bailiff, working his way up to police constable. He worked in these capacities in various areas of the Hunter region... met and 'married' (although I can find no official church record), Margaret Blackwood alias Elliott of The Mary Ann .... and settled and bought land in Dungog, NSW.
