Biographies
Edward McGuinness (Tyne 1819) & William Webb (Mangles 1820) & Patrick Geary (Guildford 1816) & Thomas Quinn (Minerva 1819) & John Lynch (Dorothy 1820) were among other convicts aboard Wellington on 10 December 1826 when a group of convicts seized control of the ship on way to Norfolk Island.
Recaptured they were returned to Sydney and placed on Prison Hulk "Phoenix" awaiting transfer to Norfolk Island. Hey escaped as a group from "Phoenix" in February 1827.

Edward was born about 1799 Dublin Ireland and was convicted at Dublin in 1818 and sentenced to 7 years transportation

Edward arrived Sydney aged 19 aboard Tyne on 4 January 1819 with his Indent showing trade "labourer"

Edward had Certificates of Freedom 039/3663 dated 10 May 1825 reissued to 107/5624 dated 24 August 1826

He was at large for a short period following his escape from the "Phoenix" and during his recapture was wounded and died soon after in Sydney Gaol.
