John was tried and convicted at Cavan Ireland in 1831 of "false pretences" and sentenced to 14 years transportation

John arrived Sydney aged 19 aboard Dunvegan Castle in 1832 with his Indent showing alias "John Dunleavy" and trade "ploughman".

John was convicted on 22 June 1842 in Sydney of multiple murders; Kearnes Landregan on 20 Feb 1842, Edmund Ireland, Frazer family ( also suspected of others) and sentenced to death.
