Samuel was born about 1784 Warwick and was tried convicted at Warwick Assizes on 6 August 1814 and sentenced to 14 years transportation

Samuel arrived Sydney aged about 25 aboard Baring on 26 June 1809 with his Indent showing alias "James".

Samuel together with Edward Cotham, William Taylor and Thomas Acton were all convicted on 6 July 1820 of break enter steal from R Brooks of Sydney and sentenced to death.
