George was tried and convicted at Stafford Assizes on 6 August 1829 and sentenced to 14 years transportation

George arrived Sydney aged about 21 aboard Mermaid on 7 May 1830 with his Indent showing trade "carter".

George was assigned to an Iron Gang at Newcastle during which time he along with Patrick Cassidy (Waterloo 1831) attempted to murder Hugh McIntyre an Overseer.

George Baggaley and Patrick Cassidy were both convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to death and hanged on 9 September 1835 at Newcastle NSW.
