Biographies

Thomas Addington born C1812 died, 6th July 1854 Thomas was found guilty at the County Assize Court for allegedly accosting a man at night and robbing him of a canvas purse containing 2 shillings or thereabouts. Thomas was the only one caught (there were 2 others). He was sentenced to 10 years and came to Australia as a convict. Thomas is my Great, Great, Grandfather. Thomas married Catherine Smith 17th Feb 1852 St Georges Church in Gawler S/A. Thomas worked on a property called Warren Estate Mt Crawford in South Australia, which is now known as Springfield station. There is an article in regards to this. As soon as I locate a copy I will add it here. He died and was buried on this property, there is a marked grave with his name, on this property. According to other records, they had their first child called Charles on 21st January 1853 born in Eudunda S/A died October 21st 1912 Broken Hill, Charles is my Great Grandfather. The second child, Jemimah Thomas, born 14 July, 1854 born at the station, died 7th May 1949 Seaton Park S/A, he is buried in Moonta. https://www.bayanne.info/Shetland/getperson.php?personID=I88061&tree=ID1
