Biographies

Margaret Blackwood alias Elliott is my 3x great Grandmother who was arrested and tried with her sister Mary Blackwood for coining. I have her court transcripts from the High Court Justiciary of edinburgh. They were held in the Toll prison until transported on the Mary Ann in 1839 and arrived in NSW. After being offered with the pir shipmates for work as convict labour in Parramatta NSW ...Margaret was moved to Newcastle prison where she was sent to work with some occasions of misdemeanors. Here she met Patrick Conlon alias Conway from The City of Edinburgh convict ship 1832. They tried several tmes to get permission to marry and eventually gained permission after the birth of their first daughter. Margaret outlived Patrick and between them they raised a large family and led successful lives.... Two of their sons married sisters from the Murray family... Henry Merry (changed to Murray) from the Lady Kennaway 1836. I am not sure either sets of children were aware of the convict history.
