Biographies

Laurence and twelve other convicts absconded from the agricultural settlement at Castle Hill on 15 February 1803 with some entering the nearby home of M Declamb and stealing some items. Participants were; Patrick Gammon, Francis Simpson, Patrick Riss, Laurence Dempsey, Patrick McDermott, John Lynch, John Morgan & John Brown (all atlas 1802) and Thomas Shanks & James Conroy (both Hercules 1802) and Michael Houlahan, Loughlin Doyle & Timothy Mulcahy ( all Atlas 2 1802). Laurence was tried and convicted at Cork Ireland and sentenced to life transportation, he arrived Sydney aboard Atlas on 7 July 1802.
