Thomas was tried and convicted at Essex Quarter Sessions on 16 October 1827 and sentenced to 14 years transportation

Thomas arrived Sydney aged about 24 aboard Eliza on 18 November 1828 with his Indent showing trade as "miller". He is shown on 1837 Census as a TOL holder at Penrith NSW

Thomas made application to marry Mary Ann Whitaker (Whiteacre) on 22 August 1836, her ship name is indeciperable
