Samuel was convicted at Leicester Assizes on 15 August 1821 and sentenced to life transportation, he arrived Tasmania aboard Richmond on 30 April 1822

Samuel was convicted on 20 March 1827 of privately steal and murder at Macquarie Harbour and sentenced to death.
