Jones was convicted at York Leeds Boro Quarter Sessions on 20 October 1823 and sentenced to 14 years transportation, he arrived Tasmania aboard Phoenix on 21 January 1824.

Jonas was convicted on 9 December 1825 Hobart of murder William Mason on 2 September 1829 (with an axe) and sentenced to death.
