William was born about 1805 Bishopstoke Hampshire and christened 2 Jun 1805 Parish Church Bishopstoke the second of ten children of Robert Callan & Elizabeth Harris

William offended for a second time and was tried and convicted on 5 March 1821 at Southampton Hampshire Assizes and sentenced to 14 year transportation

William arrived Sydney aboard Mary 2 on 23 Jan 1822 & later assigned to Phillip Thorley of Patrick Plains : In Aug 1824 he was given 25 lashes for "insolence & refuse work" at Newcastle.

William had two brothers also transported George Callan (Lady Harewood 1832) & James Callan (William Glen Anderson 1831)

William gained his Certificate of Freedom 35/0334 dated 15 April 1835.

William firstly offended at age 15 and was convicted of "burglary" on 20 Oct 1819 at Stafford and was imprisoned upon Prison Hulk "Leviathan" in Portsmouth Harbour for a period
