Biographies
James More was born in 1822 Dysart, Fife, Scotland, he died 22/8/1900 at Northampton, WA, Australia. At the time of the 1851 Census James and wife Christina were living with Christina's parents with three of their four children born in Gallatown, Dysart, Scotland. Jemima was born in 1852.
James More (Moore) was convicted of assault in Perth Scotland and was given a sentence of 16 years Registration Number: 3633 Occupation: mason. Married with 4 children. He was 5' 8" tall with brown hair, grey eyes, a long face and sallow complexion. He was of a middling stout build. His distinguishing features were described as a Bracelet, cross keys, anchor, 3 rings right hand; J M, 1621, C E, 1822, etc. left hand and arm.
James More arrived in the port of Fremantle on 10 July 1855 on the convict ship the Adelaide.
He was given a Ticket of Leave 25 Nov 1857,Conditional pardon 18 November 1860 and Ab. pardon 11 October 1869.
His wife Christiana and her daughters all came out on the Hamilla Mitchell which arrived 6/4/1859, they used her maiden name Robertson.
