James Buckley – born 29/4/1806 Huddersfield, York. Convict. Age 24yrs (grand larceny-house breaking) Convicted in York. Trial 27/4/1829. Spent 2 years in hulk prior to transportation. Transported on vessel, “Layton”. Arrived in Sydney 1829. Sentence 7yrs. Assigned to C.D. Thomson Sydney. Certificate of Freedom 30/5/1836. Died of burns 3/9/1858 Griegs Creek (now Martindale Creek). Buried in Muswellbrook
Married 1835 Sophia Baker, Muswellbrook. Sophia ? DOB 1817 Bressingham, Norfolk. Arrived in Aust. 30/10/1835/34 on vessel “David Scott”. Brought out on Government Bounty of ₤10, assigned to Mrs Elizabeth Dailey Haden. Died 1900 age 80yrs in New Lampton
