Biographies

Joanna Driscoll born Cork Ireland in 1805 daughter of Dennis and Mary Driscoll, had a previous conviction of 4 months when in July 1837 she was convicted of stealing a cloak at Cork and sentenced to 7 years transportation - she was five foot tall and single.

She was transported on the ship " Diamond " master James F Bissett arriving at NSW on 28. 3. 1838.

Then aged 33 an application to marry John Hillier ( or Hellier ) ex ship Moffatt 2 at Port Macquarrie NSW was approved on 11. 4. 1839 - both said to be of good conduct and attached to Mr J R Middleton.

Her husband John died in 1866, and Joanna died at Kempsey, NSW in 1896.
