Biographies
Believed to have been born about 1802 in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Tried at the Old Bailey (Reference no t18211024-151) 24 Oct 1821 of theft pick pocketing found guilty. Punishment was Transportation for Life. He was 18yo.
Sent to the Hulk Leviathan prior to being sent to NSW on 26 March 1822.
He was assigned in Sydney to Solomon Levy.
Application to marry in 1827 to Ann Tracy and permission was granted.They were married on 5 Feb 1827 at St Philips Church of England Sydney.
George received the first signature on his Conditional Pardon on 1st July 1841.The final signature signed off on 14 September 1841. At the time he was assigned to Reid
George is noted as being a carpenter and able to read and write.
Physical Description: Brown hair Hazel eyes Ruddy and fair complexion Height 5' 51/2"
George died on 18 April 1883 at the Hospital for Insane Parramatta NSW dying of Senile Decay (length of illness 3 months). Burid at The Necropolis (Rookwood) Interred 20 April 1883 Zone B Section BB Grave Number 438.
He is noted as having the following children on his death certificate George, Ann, Mary, Caroline that were living plus one male and one female deceased.
