Biographies
John together with Philip Cunningham (Anne 1801) & John Neill (Atlas 1802) & John Brennan (Rolla 1803) & Timothy Hogan (Rolla 1803) & William Johnson (Rolla 1803) & George Harrington (Glatton 1803) & Samuel Humes (Hercules 1802) were considered the leaders of the Castle Hill Rebellion of March 1804 in which over 200 convicts and others rebelled against Colonial Authority of the day.
In response Governor King imposed Martial Law on 5 March 1804 revoked 12 March 1804.

John was convicted by Court Martial for his part in rebellion and sentenced to death, he was hanged on 8 March 1804 at Parramatta NSW
