Biographies

James Eighteen was born in 1786 in Hadleigh, Suffolk.
When he was convicted of larceny, he had been married to his wife, Hannah, for 10 years and they had 4 children.

On 8th August 1816, he. along with James Gleed, were tried for larcency. Accused of stealing 5 sheets and a shirt from a workhouse. They were found guilty and sentenced to death, but later reprieved and the punishment was reduced to 7 years transportation.
They both were transported on the Lord Eldon to New South Wales. James Eteen was assigned to goverment labour upon his arrival, and worked as a servant for a Mr. Kitchen.

James died in 1858 in Hadleigh, Suffolk at the age of 72 years.
