Convincing evidence exists that SAMUEL ALLPORT was in fact the alias of the transported convict SIMEON ALLPORT who arrived in the colony of New South Wales 25/10/1837 on the James Pattison. SIMEON, the son of SIMEON ALLPORT and SARAH ALLEN, was baptised 6/4/1817 at HANDSWORTH Staffordshire. He married MARIA POOLE 5/10/1935 at ASTON JUXTA Birmingham. SIMEON and his accomplice were said to have stolen fowls at HANDSWORTH on 18/10/1836. Both were sentenced at the Staffordshire Quarter Sessions on 4/1/1837 to be transported for seven years. SIMEON was assigned to THOMAS RAWTHORNE (sic) at VALE OF CLYWDD and later issued with a Ticket of Leave by the Bench at HARTLEY VALE for service with JAMES COLLETT (sic).
