IN MEMORY OF / PIONEERS / LYNN SHEPHERD BORN 1795 & ELISABETH (MARINER) BORN 1792 / LYNN WAS WOUNDED AT WATERLOO IN 1815 WHILE SERVING WITH THE 69th REGIMENT, HE AND / ELISABETH WERE MARRIED AT ARNOLD, NOTTINGHAM IN 1817. IN 1826 THEY CAME TO N.S.W. ON / THE ""ORPHEUS"". LYNN WAS GRANTED 80 ACRES OF LAND AT BONG BONG IN 1830 (HARBY FARM). / THEIR CHILDREN WERE MARY, CHARLES, JOHN, LYNN, JAMES, SARAH AND WILLIAM. / IN 1838 LYNN WAS WRONGFULLY CONVICTED OF HIGHWAY ROBBERY AND IMPRISONED ON / NORFOLK ISLAND. HE WAS RELEASED IN 1841. / HE DIED AT MURRAY FLATS IN 1845 AND WAS BURIED IN THIS CEMETERY. / ELISABETH WAS BURIED AT MANGARLOWE IN 1872. / LYNN AND ELISABETH'S DESCENDANTS HONOURED THEM ON / 17th SEPTEMBER, 1995 WITH THIS MEMORIAL STONE |
